Jesse Dunford Wood’s new recipe book Modern British Food is a wonderful marriage of art and food. It pays homage to Great British classics with innovative and inspiring new ideas. Carroll’s Heritage Potatoes have worked with Jesse for several years and we proudly supply him with our heritage potatoes. “We get lots of amazing potatoes from Lucy Carroll and her fields of heritage potatoes – long ones, short ones, fat ones, knobbly ones, smooth ones, white ones, and all sorts of multi-coloured ones; even some with sensible names!”.
Jesse uses our potatoes in his new recipe book for his Potato, Egg and cress salad, “what better way to refine the Great British potato salad than to funk it up with wonderfully distinct and varied potatoes..”. We would recommend using our LINDA or AURA varieties which will wonderfully hold their shape and flavour for the salad or if you’re feeling inspired try using our VIOLETTA variety to add a popping purple colour to your table.
Jesse came into the culinary world via art school, he has worked in restaurants across the globe both in the kitchens and front of house. Jesse returned to home soil and opened restaurants in the National Gallery, which received rave reviews for his take on British food. Following his adventures and experience, Jesse first opened The Mall Tavern with partners in Notting Hill Gate, where the Cow Pie, Kyiv and Arctic Rolls were all invented. Then Jesse went his own way and is now the proud owner of The Parlour in Kensal Green, London. Jesse has been making his mark on the London culinary scene with his talent for reinventing British classics. The Palour is always busy and very popular for its fun and colourful food, ‘A touch of nostalgia & a nod to the creative, everyday a small step forward‘.
